Basic computers (Basic Computers, DTP, Tally, C & C++) was taught during the first few years of the ARCC. But this course has progressed into higher end courses. Some college students, college drop outs and school drop outs opt for these courses and they hope to find a career out of these.
ANAIKATTI RURAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Ananikatty Rural Community College about 800 students have studies so far, in about 8 different skill development courses in computer, Tailoring, Mobile servicing, Beauty Therapy, Catering, House wiring, Health assistant courses.
Due to no proper employment and distracted by the illegal activities, we are offering those young lads a choice and an opportunity to make their make their dreams come true by teaching them some skill and trade. Also the women who married young and most of the men in community do not work, so women take the burden of learning a skill, earn and take care of their families.
ARCC – More Practical and more effective! We have been seen 2022 as a new and fresh start after corona and have had about 85 students joining us for the 8 courses this year. After the cornona we have made some restructuring to our curriculm to help it be more practical give them hands on training and also make them ready to join the income generation program.

Industrial Visit
Visiting some place relevant to their field to know more and increase their knowledge and know the current trends.
Test
Weekly/ monthly tests to prepare them for the BSS exams. These could be formal /informal to make sure they are in touch with their subjects.
Research
To submit a research paper every month, relevant to the current day trends in their fields to help them learn and innovate.
Events
Events to be organized by each department in a place, so that the students can organize it and develop.
Record Work
To formalize their studies and make them skilled and have a point of reference to their study in terms of notes/ record work.
Internship
Once in 6 months, to work in a practical unit for 3 days to one week for hands-on experience.
About Our Skill Development Course
ANAIKATTY RURAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE (ARCC) IS SKILL DEVELOPMENT CENTER FOR THE PURPOSE OF IMPACTING THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC STANDARD OF THE RURAL AND TRIBAL PEOPLE OF ANAIKATTY. STARTED IN 2012 IN A SIMPLE WAY, TODAY ARCC HOSTS 9 COURSES AND HAS IMPACTED MORE THAN 500 PEOPLE IN THE REGION.
The ARCC Team comprises of 9 staff who are trainers in different courses of Computer, Tailoring, Mobile Phone Servicing, House Wiring, Beautician, Catering and Machine Embroidery. The trainers for beautician, Catering, House Wiring and Mobile Phone Servicing are from different businesses, who work here part time and train the students. For the Health Assistant course, we have a tie-up with Bethany Medical Center, where the students get to learn theory and practical. Life Coping and Spoken English trainers are part-time staff.
The Academic Co-ordinator co-ordinates the day to day activities at the center, communicates with the BSS, quality checks the course standards and connects the staff and the students.The Field Co-ordinators, initiates and manage the Field Training Centers, and visits the villages and talks to the students in the villages about the different courses and bring them into the center.
Computers
Tailoring (Basic & Embroidery)
It was one of the first courses started at ARCC and students have learned to stitch blouses, churridhars, dresses for their children and they have set up their own shop and earn in their own homes through stitching clothes. Hand Embroidery and Machine Embroidery courses are also conducted for students.
Beauty Therapy
This course was requested by the tribal peolpe and the students joined for Basic beautician Course in January 2017. The students have been inspired much and after the completion of the basic course, many of them have joined the advanced Course –they learn Reflexology, Aroma Therapy, Bridal make up, Face Drawing and Advanced Hair Styling. Students do internship in these courses.
Many of the student of the advance beauty Therapy, today earns on an average `5000 for a Bridal Makeup. They are confident women and are successful.
Catering
In the Catering course is students learn to do different kinds of South Indian Curries dishes. They are encouraged to go on Catering services along with their trainer to get hands on experience in functions and other food festivals.
Mobile Service
The Mobile Phone Service course is taught to students who learn to repair cell phones, re-set phones, and buy spare parts and fix them for broken phones. This course is very useful, as they make money in their own villages through repair of the cell phones.
Health Assistant (Nursing)
This course has been started in association with the Bethany Medical Center (BMC) in Anaikatty located opposite to ARCC. The nursing trainer staff trains the students practically. Our vision is to start Health Centers in the hamlets in Anaikatty, so that the immediate medical need is catered to in these hamlets. Most of these girls come from villages in the interior where the government bus does not reach. Their travel expense everyday is Rs.30.
House Wiring
The school dropped out tribal boys are learning house wiring as it will give them a job. The students are taught in a practical way all about doing wiring at home. It is a very useful skill and there has been a great demand for electrician in the Anaikatty Village as well as in the city.
Life Coping
The People of Anaikatty need a lot of motivation especially the tribal who otherwise discontinue their classes. So they are motivated through Life coping classes twice a month. They are taught how to communicate, face interviews, confidence and boldness, and Ethics. So Life Coping is a regular part of their curriculum.
Spoken English
The students get trained in spoken English. These are students who very much want to speak in English and be in par with their city counterparts. This course is also for all the students, who are encouraged to speak and communicate in English.
Affiliation
ARCC is affiliated with BSS Bharat Sevak Samaj (BSS), a national development agency, established in 1952 by planning commission by Government of India. Students get the ARCC Certificate and those who opt to be BSS certified take the certification.
